Features

FAQs

  1. How does this extension work?

The extension relies on an online weather service to display the current weather for your location, which may result in a delay when loading the panel.

  2. What's new in this version?

    Please check the Logs section.

  3. Why sometimes station is not set correctly after closing the popup window?

To properly select a station, first, use the magnification button (+) to locate the correct region. If the newly selected station is within that region (inside the black circle), it will be stored correctly, and the badge icon will update in a few minutes according to your settings. If the selected station is not within the circle, you must close the popup window after selecting the new station, then reopen the popup and wait for the UI to load again. Once the UI has reloaded, zoom in on the region again and change the station from the default to your preferred station, making sure that it is now within the circle.

  4. Can I change the weather unit from Celsius to Fahrenheit or vice versa?

Yes, you can change the unit by clicking on the toolbar button and waiting for the panel to load. Then, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the popup and select your preferred unit. Wait for the popup to reload, and the badge icon should update to reflect your chosen unit. You can then close the panel. To change the badge unit, right-click on the action button and alter the setting.

  5. How often is the badge icon updated with the current weather?

By default, the badge icon updates automatically every 3 minutes. Additionally, the extension will update the weather when the computer becomes active from an idle state or when the preferences are altered. You can change the update interval by going to the extension's Setting page. In Firefox, click on the menu button, then go to Add-ons. Find Forecast Plus and click on the preferences button to access the settings.

  6. The panel is blank or shows a 404 not found error page. How can I reset the extension to the default view?

This extension stores the last visited station and uses that location for future visits. If the toolbar panel is blank, you may need to clear the internal preference. In Firefox, open a new browser tab and enter "about:config" in the address bar. Search for "[email protected]" and right-click on it, then select "reset." Forecast Plus should load the default location now. In Chrome, you can reset the extension by removing it from "chrome://extensions/" and reinstalling it from the Chrome store.

  7. Some sections of the toolbar panel are stuck loading. Can this issue be fixed?

You may have a script-blocking extension installed that prevents this extension from accessing its resources. To fix this issue, make sure you can open http://www.wunderground.com/ in a browser tab.

  8. What does the "Popup size (in pixels)" option do?

This option determines the width of the popup window that appears when you press the action button. The acceptable range for this value is 300px to 800px.

  9. What does the "Use decimal point in the badge area" option do?

By default, the current temperature is rounded to the nearest whole number. If you check this option, the extension will also display decimal points. Please note that it may take a few minutes for this change to take effect, as the badge will need to update.

The "Weather Forecast" extension is a comprehensive tool that provides users with detailed weather forecasts for their location. It allows users to add multiple stations to their forecast panel. The extension displays the current weather temperature in the toolbar area and lets the users switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius units. It is powered by the "Weather Underground" service.

Using this extension, the user can display the current temperature in the badge icon in the toolbar. This allows users to quickly and easily see the current weather conditions at a glance, without having to open the extension panel. Additionally, the extension provides runway and gate times in its reports, making it a useful tool for travelers. The latest hourly weather forecast is also available from the toolbar panel, providing users with up-to-date information on current and upcoming weather conditions.

The extension has global coverage, meaning it provides weather updates for locations around the world. This makes it a versatile tool that can be used by anyone, regardless of their location. The extension uses an online weather service to display the current weather for the user's location, which may result in a delay when loading the panel. However, once the panel has loaded, it provides a wealth of information including current conditions, a detailed forecast for the next several days, and any relevant weather alerts.

Users can customize the extension to suit their preferences by accessing the settings menu. Here, they can change the update interval for the badge icon, select their preferred weather unit (Fahrenheit or Celsius), and adjust the popup size in pixels. The extension also has a feature that allows users to choose whether or not to display decimal points in the badge area.
