Features

FAQs

  1. What is the WhatsApp™ Messenger add-on and how can I use it?

WhatsApp™ Messenger loads the official WhatsApp web (which is known as WA Web) messenger inside a toolbar panel. Hence you can check all your posts without the need to switch tab to WhatsApp web. It is recommended to close all your WhatsApp web pages and use the panel for checking messages as WhatsApp only allows you to have a single open instance of WhatsApp web.

Please note that the UI of WhatsApp web is designed and maintained by WhatsApp team. This extension only provides an easier way to have access to your WhatsApp Web service. You need to read and agree with Privacy & Terms in order to use this service.

  2. What is the meaning of the badge icon?

The badge notification displays the number of unread conversations you have. For instance if you have two conversations with 10 unread posts, you will see 2 in the badge notification.

  3. How can I get badge notification in the Chrome version?

As of version 0.1.7, you can install WhatsApp™ Messenger Helper extension along with the packaged application in order to get toolbar button for the application. Note that as long as the application window is opened, your toolbar button will get badge updates.

  4. How can I activate the WhatsApp web after first installation

You will notice a new toolbar button is appended to your browser. Click the button to open the panel. If this is the first time you are using WhatsApp in this browser, a QR code will be shown. You need to scan the QR code with your mobile device. To do so, open WhatsApp application on your Android or Iphone cellphone. From the 3-dot menu select "WhatsApp Web" and scan the QR code. You will see that all your cellphone conversions will be loaded in the panel area. For more info please visit How do I use WhatsApp Web.

  5. Is it possible to disable desktop notification in this application?

Yes, head to the options page and uncheck "Display desktop notification" option.

  6. What's new in this version?

    Please check the Logs section.

  7. Can I change the position of the toolbar button?

Yes, simply right click on a free space in the toolbar area and select "Customize ..." item. Now you can drag and drop the icon to the proper location. For more customization options please visit a Comprehensive Guide to Firefox Customization.

  8. For some reason, the toolbar badge is not updating, how can I fix this?

Open the toolbar panel. In the left side, there is a refresh button. Press the button and wait for a few seconds for the badge to calculate the number of unread conversations.

  9. What are the options I have in the toolbar panel?

You can open the WA Web, FAQs page or the bug reporter directly from the panel. Also you can refresh the panel. If you need a new feature post a bug report and I'll try to add this it in the next release.

  10. If I open a WhatsApp web in a tab, the opened one in the panel goes to idle mode. Do I need to re-enable it after I am closing the one loaded on the tab?

No. From version 0.1.1, the extension automatically activate the panel as soon as the tab one is closed.

  11. Are all of the communications still ENCRYPTED, end to end, when using this application?

Yes, as it has been mentioned before, this application only loads the official application inside a panel view / sandboxed window. Since WhatsApp Web supports end to end encryption, hence all the communications are encrypted.

As the world moved towards the future, people have been given different options in the niche of mobile applications. In today’s age and time, having a mobile application is not only important for the common man, but also a necessity for businesses as well. The messaging application, which has certainly proved its metal in the market is WhatsApp. This application is one of the most used and extensively favored applications, which provide a social messaging service to people all around the globe. Starting of as a simple messaging platform, WhatsApp has grown to provide several other interactive features, which is one of the most important reasons, it is a major marketing tool of the 21st Century. From sending voice notes, to sending videos and documentation, WhatsApp has allowed people to interact with their loved ones, and run their businesses from their specified work premises. You have the ability to contact anyone free of cost and apart from messaging, you can also talk to them about the call. However, when you need to work in front of your computer screen while leaving your mobile on the table, you would find it a daunting task to stay in the loophole. This is where WhatsApp™ Messenger comes in play.

WhatsApp™ Messenger is a convenient add-on, which lets you check all your WhatsApp notifications while surfing on other websites as well. It is the official WhatsApp messenger, loaded in the toolbar of your personal computer, which allows easy and quick access to all your WhatsApp chats. This user-friendly extension gives you a badge notification of all your unread conversations, and a desktop notification as soon as you get a new message. Above all, the WhatsApp™ Messenger is extremely light and easy to use.

I would recommend this add-on to everyone, especially people who cannot keep a check on their mobile applications all the time.
